Bloomingdale, GA – One Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on US-80
Bloomingdale, GA (January 16, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a major highway in Bloomingdale.
Georgia State Patrol officials confirmed that the accident happened around 4 a.m. on Friday morning, January 14. A pedestrian was walking in the area on US-80 near the area of the Jimmy DeLoach Parkway. Suddenly, they were struck by a passenger vehicle that was traveling in the area. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was traumatically injured. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes in the area until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues. Police will update as more information becomes available.
