Rome, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal House Fire on Donley Dr
Rome, GA (October 4, 2021) – At 1:55 a.m. on Monday morning, October 4, a woman was killed in a fatal house fire in Rome.
According to Floyd County officials, the house fire happened on Donley Drive. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they discovered that the home was completely engulfed in smoke and flames. Fire crews were told that there could be multiple people inside the home so they started to venture inside, where they found an unconscious woman. They had to pull her to safety.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 89-year-old woman who had to be rescued from the home was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead while there. Her 94-year-old husband was also seriously injured but his current condition is not yet known.
The area was blocked for some time until fire crews were able to bring the fire under control.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
